Sebagian buku yang ada di daftar buku Rory pernah saya baca waktu kuliah. Saya ingat, dulu saya senang mendapat tugas Telaah Prosa, Telaah Puisi, Telaah, Drama, dan mata kuliah semacam itu. Saya jadi membaca banyak buku. Beberapa judul di antaranya pernah saya beberapa kali. The Story of My Life karya Helen Keller adalah buku paling sering saya baca–sejak kecil. Saya pernah menulis alasannya di catatan saya yang lain. Satu novel di daftar itu saya bahas di skripsi saya. Judulnya Brave New World.

Ternyata ceritanya begini. Untuk mengenang setahun kematian John Lennon (dia meninggal karena ditembak oleh his crazy fans bernama Mark David Chapman pada tanggal 8 Desember 1980 di New York City), para penggemarnya di Polandia kumpul-kumpul dan marching down di jalan kecil itu sambil main-main gitar, nyanyi-nyanyi lagunya John Lennon terutama Give Peace A Chance, sama smoking pot (yang terakhir ini jangan ditiru ya). Saat itu, gang kecil tersebut belum ada namanya. Lalu mereka iseng-iseng punya ide dan membuat replika nama jalan itu sesuai nama idola mereka. Dari sekedar iseng di tahun 1981 itu, mereka lalu serius meminta pemda Warsawa untuk menyetujui pemberian nama John Lennon untuk jalan itu. Dan yang namanya usaha, 10 tahun kemudian (ada selingan sejarah Marshall Act dan seterusnya), pemerintah Polandia yang saat itu baru lepas dari komunisme beneran menyetujui permohonan itu.
